Roller Coasters. Peanuts. Pen Caps. Oxycontin. Those are just some of the legal items and thrills that kill more people than marijuana does every year–because marijuana has killed no one ever.
Obesity kills over 30,000 people per year, and the recent Oklahoma State University’s Food Demand Survey confirms that Americans view the threat of obesity and the threat of raw, unpasteurized milk as far bigger threats to society than marijuana.
As The Washington Post’s “KnowMore” blog points out with a handy chart, 47% Americans support a ban on marijuana while about 59% Americans support a ban on raw, unpasteurized milk, about 65% of Americans support calorie limits for school lunches, and nearly 69% of Americans support mandatory calorie labels on restaurant menus.
The sample size for the Food Demand Survey conducted at Oklahoma State consisted of over 1,000 individuals, a large enough sample size to produce viable data.
The study also reports that over 80% of Americans want the country’s children’s school lunches to contain at least two servings of fruit and vegetables. In other words, Americans would prefer the government focus on making the country a healthier place than a society without legal cannabis.
As majority support for marijuana grows, it continues to become crystal clear that more Americans than not just want the flower legalized and the government to focus on more real threats to society.
