A man shot a doctor at an El Paso Veterans Administration hospital Tuesday before shooting and killing himself, a preliminary investigation by authorities shows.
The El Paso Times reported the shooting was called in at about 4 p.m. at the veterans facility located at 5001 N. Piedras St. Police blocked of several streets and helicopters circled above, the Times reported.
EL Paso Police Department told Guns.com Fort Bliss Military Police were handling the incident, it just sent officers to help with traffic.
After several calls, the public affairs officer — the only person authorized to speak with the press — could not be reached by article publication.
The hospital serves El Paso and Fort Bliss, which is home to the Army’s 1st Armored Division. NBC News reported that the base was on lockdown for about an hour while authorities looked for the shooter.
