While the Washington Legislature convenes today, the first big public turnout may be this Thursday’s “Rally for Your Rights” event, which brought an unusually candid acknowledgement about registration from an anti-gunner this morning on the Seattle P-I.com’s website from a reader responding to liberal columnist Joel Connelly’s piece on the rally.
P-I reader John Whitmore wrote early this morning, “Yes, that is the next step–registration. That way we know who owns what gun and who doesn’t. It’s a no brainer. Little steps. We will get there and hopefully reduce the abismal (sic) gun violence statistics that Amerca (sic) has compared to other 1st world nation. It won’t eliminate gun violence but hopefully save many, many lives.”
Second Amendment activists will quickly explain to Whitmore that it’s none of his business who owns what gun and who doesn’t. It is certainly none of the government’s business, unless and until someone breaks the law, one might argue.
