The Sony hacking scandal that has surrounded the release of “The Interview” has garnered much more attention than it ever deserved, yet the mainstream media was hell bent on making this one of their top stories of the holiday season.
This story, was one of the finest examples of political and media manipulation that has arisen in a very long time. Comically or not so, depending on your perspective, this story has changed so many times, it’s hard to distinguish fact from fiction.
A common tactic that politicians use, and have used for as long as politics has existed, is to never allow a bad situation to go to waste. As seen with this story, Obama, along with mainstream media outlets were quick to lay blame on the anti-western North Korean regime.
The story sounded good and made sense, given the anti North Korean plot of the movie. Yet, just like the movie, this story was nothing more than fiction. The one difference being, the movie didn’t attempt to pass its story off as truth.
To make matters worse, when things began to fall apart in regards to the North Korean story, the powers in charge quickly changed the blame to another enemy of the state, Russia. The reasons, made even less sense than the original story.
Now the truth is finally here. Researchers from the cyber intelligence company Norse have come out and stated that the truth is not as exciting as what the mainstream media would have you believe and had the following to say in regards to the hasty blame the FBI laid on North Korea:
“When the FBI made the announcement so soon after the initial hack was unveiled, everyone in the [cyber] intelligence community kind of raised their eyebrows at it, because it’s really hard to pin this on anyone within days of the attack,”
Norse believes that all signs point in the direction of a disgruntled employee and hackers for piracy groups. Much less fantastical than what was being first reported.
Despite this truth, Sony has spun this news story in a direction that has directly profited them. They have taken a movie that was predicted to be a huge failure and made it into a “free speech” movement. Laughing all the way to the bank, earning an estimated $15 million from online sales already!
This story is just another example of why you should listen and watch everything, but believe nothing until you have done your own research. Manipulation exist in everything and anything, not just the precious metals space and the stock markets. It is a part of our life and we need to learn to live it. Shift through the nonsense, the truth is out there.
