(Before It's News)

Hundreds of strangers gathered on a Nottingham street for the second time in six months to help stop a cancer patient being evicted from his home.

More than 500 people turned up at the home of Tom Crawford, on Fearn Chase in Carlton, on Friday as he defended his home from the bailiffs again.

Many of the supporters – some of whom Mr Crawford had never even met – travelled from across the country to stand side by side in protest.

Mr Crawford, who is battling prostate cancer, is involved in a long-running dispute with building society Bradford and Bingley over his mortgage.

The 63-year-old, who has lived in the house for 25 years, says he has been told by the bank and the courts that he still owes more than £43,000.

But Mr Crawford claims he paid off the last of his mortgage in 2013 and doesn’t owe a penny. He maintains the bank changed his mortgage arrangement without him knowing.
