Suspected Terrorists Shot in Belgium

Belgium, and the rest of Europe is on high alert after two men were shot and killed in an anti-terror raid in Verviers near the German border.The men, who had recently returned from Syria were said to be planning to attack police targets.

The suspects, armed with military weapons fired on police and were killed when police returned fire.

Local media are reporting that Kalashnikov rifles and bomb-making equipment was found when police later searched a flat above a bakery where the suspects had been staying and from where they fired on the police.

Anti-terror raids also took place in Brussels, Sint-Jans-Molenbeek, Anderlecht and Schaerbeek late on Thursday night, several people were arrested.
