Top 10 Most Expensive Weddings in the World
Here is a list of the ten most expensive weddings in the world. I am happy to see that George Clooney’s wedding recently made it to this list.
10. Liza Minnelli & David Gest:
The wedding of Liza Minnelli and David Gest came at a huge cost — $3.5 million. Unfortunately, the marriage did not last and ended in divorce in 2007. The most important part of the ceremony was Natalie Cole who sang the song, “Unforgettable”. That was the only sweet part of the night. The wedding goes down in history as one of the most unforgettably gruesome spectacles. Minnelli was too spaced out on her addiction pills. The groom was so terribly distorted after multiple adventures in plastic surgery.
The wedding party was simply a collection of show-biz survivors and hangers-on. The 16 bridesmaids were between the ages 26 and 78. The groomsmen were the Jackson Five, with a few extras thrown in to make up the number of girls walking down the aisle. Well, that’s my take on this wedding fiasco.
9. George Clooney & Amal Alamuddin :
George Clooney is off the market; he married Amal Alamuddin last year. People are still speculating the costs of Clooney’s “I do”s in 2014; nothing has been confirmed yet. It is estimated to be anywhere between $4.6 milliona and $13 million. Clooney booked the whole Hotel Cipriani exclusively for his wedding guests, which included Matt Damon, Anna Wintour, Bono, Cindy Crawford and John Krasinski. The groom and business partner and wedding guest Rande Gerber flew 100 cases of the brand’s award-winning Blanco, Reposado and Añejo tequila from California to Italy for the wedding festivities. That also cost a fortune
8. Delphine Arnault & Alessandro Vallarino Gancia:
The wedding of Delphine Arnault, the daughter of French billionaire Bernard Arnault, and Alessandro Vallarino Gancia, heir of Italian wine dynasty, came at a cost of $7 million. The couple wed in the Catherale Saint-Jean-Baptiste de Bazas in Gironde, while the reception took place at the legendary Château d’Yquem vineyard in Bordeaux. Like the last two couples on this list, they also divorced (2010) and Delphine Arnault had her first child in August of 2012 with Xavier Niel.
7. Wayne Rooney & Coleen McLaughlin:
The marriage ceremony of Wayne Rooney, the famous football player for Manchester UnitedKingdom, and Coleen McLaughlin was a celebration that took place over a 4 days period on a yacht in Italy in 2008. The event cost almost $15 million. Finally a couple that is still happily married. The money did not go to waste. They have two children together.
6. Vikram Chatwal & Priva Sachdey:
The wedding of Vikram Chatwal, the famous Indian hotels owner businessman, and Priva Sachdey, the actress and the fashion model was a lavish event that took place in 2006. Its cost nearly 20 million dollars. Bill Clinton was on the guest list along with many other well-known, high-powered people. The wedding took place over 10 days and was spread across 3 cities in India (Mumbai, Udaipur, and Delhi). It is considered to be the most expensive and luxurious wedding in India.
