Often when a topic of extreme philosophical inclination such as the meaning of life crops up in any conversation, people tend to give a perplexed look as if they have no clue about the actuality of the topic. Some try to avoid the topic by changing to other subjects of lesser solemnity while some put a wise face and try to convert their perspective regarding the meaning of life in words in a rather abject manner.
The topic of meaning of life is highly subjective in its very essence but it does throw up a few common questions that are usually attached with it. What is the list of values that we are morally obliged to imbibe for the purpose of achieving a socially, emotionally and mentally balanced life? What values have a direct bearing on our happiness? Do ethics have any connection with morality? Last but most important, what are these values and what is their implication on the meaning of life.
Values are nothing but our beliefs and acceptance of certain moral obligations. Values also are principles that become the very foundation of our lifestyles. They also establish your priorities and transform into measures that you adopt to dictate the terms of your life. By incorporating values in our life, we tend to make it easy to live. We inherit clarity of thought which enables us to convert our constructive thoughts into productive actions. Values are in a way responsible for the attainment of peace of mind. When your actions are supported by your values and they both synchronize, it is then when you discover harmony and peace of mind. Peace of mind is a state that can only be achieved if your heart is content and your mind is stable.
This can be attained by aligning your ethics and beliefs with your deeds. If your ethics and values are not in tandem with your actions and they contradict each other, it is bound to lead you towards a state of disquietude and perplexity. Your actions must be a true reflection of your beliefs and must assert your perspective in its actual form. In order to seek the actual meaning of life one needs to be in a calm state of mind where he or she is at ease with oneself and his or her thoughts. The key to discovering the actual meaning of life lies in peace of mind.
