Authorities in the Windy City are on the lookout for a minivan packed with pooches that was taken by a pair of armed gunmen Wednesday.

As reported by ABC7,  the 2002 Chrysler Town and Country minivan was stolen at about 4 p.m. on Feb. 18 by two men described only as being between 18-25.

Inside the vehicle, operated by Urban Out Sitters, an animal day care service in the city, were a half dozen dogs belonging to various owners.

“I got a text from my wife saying my dog had been kidnapped. I couldn’t comprehend what that meant. I called her back immediately and she told me what happened and I was just in shock,” said Tad Tomita, owner of one of the missing dogs.

The owner of the service, Joseph Giannini, is hopeful that the situation will be quickly resolved.

“We’re hoping that people will see a van with barking dogs in it and know that’s not right and will call police immediately,” Giannini told the Chicago Tribune. “That’s where we are hoping we will find the van.”
