This is just in….Twitter’s CFO Anthony Noto’s social media account was hacked. His handle @anthonynoto sent hundreds of auto-replies to various users containing spammy links. There is no sign of any information being stolen and it’s not clear at this time how the incident happened.
This is not the first time that Noto has immersed himself in controversy in the short time he’s been with the social media company. Last year, he accidentally sent a private message about a confidential deal to his Twitter followers. Since then the company has worked to improve its product for direct message.
Twitter accounts with large followings are targeted by hackers all the time. Newsweek magazine’s Twitter account was also hacked recently and fake messages were posted threatening President Barack Obama’s family and claiming to be publishing confidential government documents.
As well, an unknown person or group of people posted sexually explicit content on Delta Airline’s Facebook page. Delta removed the posts and apologized for the breach; promising any investigation.
