This private boathouse is nestled away on an island in the archipelago of Canada’s Georgian Bay. Designed by the Toronto-based architecture studio Weiss Architecture & Urbanism Limited, the modern getaway includes floating cedar docks and bridges, a kitchenette and bar, a furnished pavilion, and a storage unit. The docks and bridges are crafted from cedar, just like the slats of the covered pavillion and the blackened shed for storing canoes, kayaks, and windsurfing gear. Lined with terne-coated topper, the pavilion roof brings extra glamor to the steel structure. Each of the features is grounded on shore or elevated on wood and rock cribs, so that the owners can enjoy the granite outcrops and jack pine forests with a sense of stability and calm.
