(Before It's News)

21st Century Wire says…

This is the second edition of a new set of posts aimed at bringing you music that is actually worth listening to. Far from the charts but close to reality, you’ll be introduced to artists promoting strong and meaningful messages.

American rock band Trapt are best known for their 2003 hit song ‘Headstrong‘, which you have more than likely heard at some point over the past 12 years. In recent years, lead singer Chris Taylor Brown (not to be confused with convicted domestic violence felon Chris Brown) has taken to social media to criticise the mainstream music business for, among other things, awarding ‘Best Rock Song’ honours to a song that didn’t even appear in the ‘Rock’ charts!

In Trapt’s song ‘Sound Off‘ Chris asks, ‘do they take us all for fools?’, in a music video charged with political imagery. The video shows a group of prisoners being served up with shredded cash, soup laced with oil, a cake that reads ‘vote’ and bullets embedded in pieces of meat. The ones serving up the ‘meal’ are a military man, an oil baron, a business man and a sleazy politician. As a riot breaks out, the police state comes in and Chris suggests ‘we will ask the questions that you fear!’
