Based on drawings by the Swiss Bauhaus artist Max Bill, the original Max Bill Chronoscope launched in 1962. Since then, the line has become a modern classic and been regularly updated by the German brand Junghans. The latest version is now set for release in May of 2015.
More than 50 years after its debut, the Max Bill Chronoscope is getting a modified Valjoux 7750 movement. To accommodate the new mechanics, the wristwatch is slightly larger than before, measuring 38mm in diameter. Keeping its characteristic shape, the watch retains is slim case, domed lens, and no-bulk leather strap. The the dual-register chronograph is also outfitted with a date aperture at three o’clock. Soon to be available from Junghans, the timepiece is priced at approximately $1,860.
