Dr. Ben Carson Explores 2016 Presidential Run
Dr. Ben Carson is officially exploring the possibility of throwing his hat in the ring as a Republican contendor for the 2016 presidential race.
Carson filed the necessary paperwork with the Federal Election Commission on Monday to create his 2016 exploratory committee, which allows him to begin raising money for a campaign.
He is the former director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital.
Although he has no prior political experience, Carson became a popular conservative figure after delivering a highly publicized speech at the 2013 National Prayer Breakfast.
He now works as a political commentator for Fox News and has authored six best-selling books published by Zondervan.
Carson is strongly opposed to Obamacare, abortion, political correctness, and same-sex marriage.
“We are racking up a virtually insurmountable debt, stifling our economic potential, and placing our children’s future at risk,” he said in an e-mail announcing his plans to run.
“At home and abroad, we are silencing honest debate about our challenges, our differences and our culture, all in the name of political correctness.”
“I’ve decided to explore a potential run for the office of president because I believe my values, life experience, and willingness to speak the truth and seek solutions, prepares me well to lead our nation toward more prosperity, security, and freedom for every American,” he said..
