(Before It's News)

So far only egocentric Jeff Flake manages to slide when posting shirtless photos of himself Aaron_Schock_2011 U.S. Rep. Aaron Schock, considered a rising political star, resigned from Congress Tuesday. The 33-year-old Illinois Republican with a penchant for lavish living finally saw the walls closing in as The Chicago Sun-Times reported on the multiple probes of his questionable campaign reimbursement claims.

A special election will be held to replace Schock. Gov. Bruce Rauner will have five days from the March 31 effective date of Schock’s resignation to schedule a special election. That election — including any primary — must be held within 120 days of the seat becoming vacant.

Schock, first elected in 2009, was Congress’ youngest member when he took office at age 27.

POLITICO, which uncovered campaign spending discrepancies through public records obtained under Illinois open records laws, has the full story here.

Schock secured a seat on the Ways and Means Committee and other posts of House GOP leadership. Had he asked, we would have advised the youthful congressman to have kept his shirt on. Bare-chesting it has been a  major stumbling block for other congressmen that has so far only been avoided by Arizonan Jeff Flake

Check out our still popular June 2011 post “Shirtless Congressmen,” detailing the meteoric descent of the ego-driven folks in DC. We also posted Shirtless, classless, mostly jobless,” in April 2012.
