The Simpsons is known to be the longest running television sitcom ever that holds a current 24 seasons on its belt. Ever since this comedy sitcom started in December 1989, it has been a block buster hit. Over the years, it featured different kinds of celebrities and athletes who have guest and played a few roles and said a few lines. However, this sitcom’s fame revolves around Homer Simpson and his dumb yet funny quotes, comments and scenarios.

Homer Simpson’s character is the notable “must see” character of the Simpsons since his hilarious antics brings flavor to the show. His comments and quotes about things in life, work or to a person is what makes the audience laugh. Over the 24 seasons of The Simpsons, here is a list of the top 10 most famous funny quotes from Homer Simpson.

Kamp Krusty 92

“Son, if you really want something in this life, you have to work for it. Now quiet! They’re about to announce the lottery numbers”.

This quote is one of the funniest quotes ever in the Simpsons since Homer was in his serious mode when he gave an advice to Bart on how he should run his life then all of the sudden, the TV announces the lottery numbers and makes Homer look like a hypocrite.

Homer’s Night Out

“I’m going to the back seat of my car, with the woman I love, and I won’t be back for ten minutes!”

It is hard to explain why this quote, even though it sounds kinky and romantic, still sounds funny because of the way Homer Simpson said it in the Season 1 episode 10 “Homer’s Night Out”.

Stop or My Dog Will Shoot

“How come things that happen to stupid people keep happening to me?

This funny quote is so hilarious because Homer is the one saying such quote and the people know that he is the dumbest character in the Simpsons family. This funny quote was verbally said by Homer when he was trying to find a way out of the corn maze, and when he tried to touch the corn crops, he was electrocuted 3 times. The 2nd time and the 3rd electrocution could have been prevented since there was already a sign that says the corn has been electrified, but still he continued to punch it.

The Otto Show

“If something’s hard to do, then it’s not worth doing”

What’s funny about this quote is that it all contradicts of what is the right thing to do in life, which is to try until you succeed.

Co-dependent’s Day

“I’m in no condition to drive…wait! I shouldn’t listen to myself, I’m drunk!”

This funny quote was expressed by Homer when he was drunk and he was about to drive his car going home. Though the episode received bad critics about how poorly this episode was made, this scene had the most hilarious scenes in the Simpsons franchise.

Tree House of Horror IV

“Kill my boss? Do I dare live out the American dream?”

This quote was said by Homer when he was mad about his boss Mr. Burns because of his cruel comments to Homer.

Tree House of Horror VI

“Please don’t eat me! I have a wife and kids. Eat them!”

When Homer was in the face of 2 Aliens who he thought would eat him, he shouted this quote thinking that they will eat his family and spare his life. What happens next is that what he thought would happened, never did.

Tree House of Horror XIII

“All my life I’ve had one dream, to achieve my many goals.”

This comment was very hilarious since Homer is not a goal achiever type of person; he is more of the Alcoholic type of parent although he is faithful and loyal to them. Homer portrays a parent who is not the “father of the year” type, and he is considered to be the dumbest character. Though he is sometimes rough with Bart, at the end of the story, his compassion and kindness to his children always amazes the audience.

There’s No Disgrace Like Home

“When will I learn? The answer to life’s problems aren’t at the bottom of a bottle, they’re on TV!”

This hilarious quote was said by Homer when he was frustrated of his problems about his family and he found a solution through a sudden glimpse at the TV. Thinking that asking advice from a psychiatrist will help solve his family problems, at the end of the show, he realizes that his family is unique and loves him so much.

How I Spent My Strummer Vacation

“Marriage is like a coffin and each kid is another nail”.

This quote was said by Homer Simpson when he was drunk in a cab and was watching a reality TV show that showed how a family affected a person’s dream. When he was done watching the show, he had flashbacks of what he wanted to become before being married, and that was being a rocks star. Once he expressed his dreams to his friends, they went into a rock camp and got to see how to live like a rock star. Unfortunately, Homer’s dreams were shattered upon the comments and feedback of his rock star idols about their experience in living a rock stars life which were not what he expected to hear.

Watching The Simpsons will always make you laugh. However, if you want your kids to watch such sitcom, it is best that you keep them company to explain the lesson behind some explicit scenes. It’s a great way to spend bonding time with the family.
