Another Mass Animal Die Off: Bazillions Of Tiny Crabs Are Dying (Video)

(N.Morgan) The shore line of Balboa Island is lined in red death, for it is littered with the corpses of a bazillion tiny red crabs.
Experts say these crabs haven’t been seen in this area in decades.
The pelagic crabs are the latest in a year of odd sighting.
Glow-in-the-dark organisms called pyrosomes washed ashore in September, and before that a blue, jellyfish-like creature.

This marks the first time in years that [Southern California Marine Institute director Daniel Pondella] has heard of them being seen in Southern California.
“This is the first warm year we’ve had in quite awhile,” he said. “It could just be a sign of the warm water we’re currently experiencing.”…
“I’ve never seen these things before,” [Newport Beach resident Darren Zinter] said. “It’s incredible.”
