British Father Commits Suicide After His Welfare Benefits Were Cut

21st Century Wire says…

A disturbing number of these stories are continuing to crop up. It seems like a week doesn’t go by with at least one of these austerity suicides making the headlines.

Father of three Benjamin McDonald, 34, recently had his benefits cut by the British Department for Work and Pensions due to the imposition of austerity measures in the UK. As a result of this, he found himself facing eviction. McDonald, who had also been suffering from depression for 11 years, was subsequently found hanging in fields in Nelson, Lancashire.

Austerity cuts are really proving to be deadly for the UK, a retired gardener killed himself earlier in the year after his local council relentlessly pursued him for £800 ($1226) which they had overpaid to him! The cuts are also attacking funding for healthcare, which is going to leave people without funding for drugs they need to survive.

Anti-Austerity party Syriza shot to victory in Greece after a similar pattern of events, and now the American Tax Wall Street Party is looking to stop problems like this from occurring in the U.S.

Where is Britain’s answer to the killer cuts? Our condolences go out to McDonald’s three children and family.

Father killed himself after his benefits were cut and he was threatened with eviction

The Mirror

A father-of-three killed himself after his benefits were cut and he was threatened with eviction.

Benjamin McDonald, 34, who had suffered from depression for 11 years, was found hanging in the fields where he played as a child in Nelson, Lancashire, an inquest heard.

Mr McDonald’s sister Mickayla Carr told an inquest in Burnley, Lancs that her brother – who was found dead in November last year – was a “happy-go-lucky” person who doted on his five-year-old daughter.

East Lancashire coroner Richard Taylor, referring to a written statement from Ms Carr, said: “Something must have happened to make him behave the way he did.

“He had so much more to live for, especially his relationship with his daughter who he lived for. She meant the world to him.

  • No longer Pete Sanshilli’s co-host I see. Just another SHILL at 21st BS!

  • Contrary to common opinion, welfare is not a right, a contract, or something which you have bought-in to.

At the same, exact moment when you become the proverbial beggar, who can’t be the chooser, you have fallen into an inferior bargaining position.

As a matter of Murphy’s Law, which states that, if it can happen it will happen, the party, upon which you depend, will never fulfill it’s end of the social contract.

In other words, how was the farmer in a position to collect the promised monies, in any way.

    • Contrary to popular opinion…..disability IS indeed a government insurance contract that is PAID into with every pay check.

The deduction is paid to the State Department of Industrial Relations under the S.U.I deduction. LOOK IT UP!

      • DK

Not in the UK Crowpie, it is a benefit not a right and it’s availability can be changed at any time, you can be assessed and be found insufficiently disabled just because ATOS has a quota to meet.

      • Assessments take place here in the U.S. and those same rules apply.
