The LA Times is reporting that NASA imaging is predicting that California has one year’s supply of water left, which means they need to make some pretty big decisions. Water rationing in the strictest manner would be at the top of the list. Don’t think this can become a reality? Try Sau Paulo on for fit. This is happening. This is real.

While the rest of the country was pummeled with snow and ice, California, in all her vacation glory, sat sunny, warm and dry (a 20 year trend which has led to these very dismal circumstances). Since 2011, the state has dropped more than 12 million acres’ worth of water per year and there is no indication that will change.

Once the reservoirs are depleted California will be forced to tap into ground water, which will rapidly deplete as well. Then, well, it’s gone. So what does this mean? Based on this report, the State is going to have to enforce strict, mandatory rationing. The good news? 94% of Californians get it and are ready to comply. While many have tried their hand at saving water with shorter showers, less laundry, shutting down faucets while brushing teeth, the realization is that much more rationing will need to be put into place.
