Carly Fiorina Sets Sights on White House, Slams Hillary Clinton
She’s not looking to be the GOP’s answer to Hillary Clinton—Carly Fiorina would rather beat her in the next presidential election.
The former CEO of Hewlett Packard signaled, during an appearance on “Fox News Sunday,” that she is indeed very interested in joining the lineup of Republican candidates. And, coming as she was from a techie background, she had generated her own statistics to measure the likelihood that she’ll run (via The Telegraph):
Carly Fiorina, the former Hewlett-Packard chief executive, has said chances of her running for the Republican presidential nomination in 2016 are “higher than 90 per cent”.
Mrs Fiorina, who has become a prominent critic of Hillary Clinton, told Fox News on Sunday that she was working to put together a team and would announce her plans in late April to early May.
Mrs Fiorina, 60, who survived being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2009, is likely to be the only woman in the Republican field for the 2016 nomination.
She said: “I have a deep understanding of how the economy actually works, having started as a secretary and become the chief executive of the largest technology company in the world.”
While she had the floor, Fiorina gave her likely rival some bad press, questioning Clinton’s credibility in light of the recent scrutiny over the former secretary of state’s emailing practices. According to Fiorina, Clinton’s response to that initial election-season scandal “suggests her character is flawed.”
