Rep. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-Wis.) has recently reintroduced a bill that would eliminate the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF).
As a senior Republican on the House Judiciary Committee, Sensenbrenner believes that the legal policies that currently fall within the jurisdiction of the ATF could “easily be incorporated into other agencies.”
Sensenbrenner also argues that the ATF has become “embroiled” in too many controversial actions within the recent years such as the “Fast & Furious” gun-tracking operation, as well as the new policy that would ban the sale of certain types of ammunition commonly used by the AR-15 rifle platform.
