Ah, crime in the technologically trendy age. What a bunch of little kids.
Take the instance of Andrew Marcum. On March 3rd, the Butler County Sheriff’s Office posted this wanted updated on BCSO’s official Facebook page.
Okay, they want people to help them do their job. Fine.
The 21-year-old does have an extensive criminal background, we’ll grant you that.
Butler, in his infinite wisdom, decided it would be a good idea to actually respond to the sheriff’s office on Facebook.
To which the sheriff’s office responds with an invitation to stop by, and thousands of people have a laugh at someone else’s expense.
But, that apparently wasn’t enough. Butler County Sheriff Richard K. Jones personally took to Twitter to taunt Marcum, repeatedly:
Hey Andrew Marcum we’ve got your room ready… pic.twitter.com/iYkANLD9hZ

We r close to you marcum soon u will have a new place to live. C u soon. — Richard K. Jones (@butlersheriff) March 4, 2015
Marcum was apparently arrested shortly thereafter, crying:
Andrew Dale Marcum… pic.twitter.com/6Tq146Edoh

To which the sheriff also posted:
Is it raining outside or is he teared up. Tough guys sometime sensitive — Richard K. Jones (@butlersheriff) March 4, 2015
All kidding aside, what’s worse? Criminals who are ignorant enough to respond to the sheriff’s department that has warrants for their arrest with their personal Facebook account, or sheriffs who spend their time personally taunting and bullying said ignorant criminals on their personal Twitter account?
