Wherever wisdom has happened, poetry has also happened by the side, of its own accord. Poetry is a by-product of wisdom. I don't mean that every wise man is going to write poetry. No, that is not needed – he lives poetry, his whole being is poetry. If you taste Buddha you will know what I mean; if you taste Jesus you know what I mean. Not that Jesus writes poetry – he is not a poet in that sense – but he lives poetry, his each moment is poetic. Even on the cross, his last statement praying to God, “Father, forgive these people, because they don't know what they are doing,” poetry. Only a poet can have that much heart.
