Listen to your stomach and not the ticking of the clock, because it’s past time humans evolved from our ancestral eating habits. Meal times are scheduled around the typical 9-to-5 workday, and first dates, family meeting times, and events like weddings all revolve around them. Humans may actually follow this routine more than any other in existence, but appetite doesn’t chime on the hour. In fact, it’s utterly unnatural to eat when we’re told.
As it turns out, eating three meals a day stemmed from European settlers, with whom it grew into the normal routine, eventually becoming the eating pattern of the New World. Native Americans were actually eating whenever they felt the urge to, rather than whenever the clock said morning, noon, or night. After the industrial revolution, people began to turn a midday meal into a lunchtime staple, and the after-work meal turned into dinner, a placeholder for the next meal.
“The eating schedule of the native tribes was less rigid… the Europeans took this as ‘evidence that natives were uncivilized,’” Abigail Carroll, author of the book Three Squares: The Invention of the American Meal, told National Review. “Civilized people ate properly and boundaried their eating, thus differentiating themselves from the animal kingdom, where grazing is the norm.”
Breakfast, for example, is paraded around as the key to weight loss, but in truth, meal times were based on convenience and ritual. A person’s own eating behavior is one of the greatest determinants of health, and Cornell University researchers say it’s better to avoid going without food for more than three to four hours.
Recent research published in The American Journal of Clinical Nutrition actually found eating breakfast doesn’t determine how many calories you’ll eat for the rest of the day, but instead how many calories you’ll burn. It helps calories burn faster once becoming active, but has litle effect on caloric. It may still be the most important meal of the day, but not because it leads to less indulging throughout the day.
One of the newest weight loss recommendations is intermittent fasting, and it actually rebels against current research that tells you to eat when you’re hungry and have six meals a day. Skipping your lunch break or going the entire day without any calories may not only be a weight loss recommendation but also the trick to a longer life.

There is not one “rule” that has turned out to be accurate regarding our health.
If “they” tell you it’s right, first determine who “they” are and who is paying them.
Wake up and realize you are chattel to a system that only takes care of you as long as you are useful.
Not actually true, but ok.
In reality, the Industrialization Era caused ’3 meals a day’ because people were passing out, being injured, etc. in factories in the late 1800′s, so since people were already eating ‘breakfast’ in the mornings, and ‘supper’ in the evenings, that 12-14 hour work-day was given a ‘mid-day meal break’ by factory owners.
As we stayed in the ‘Industrial Era’ over 75-years, the trend ‘stuck’.
Give credit where you want to, but the Model T had more to do with you eating 3-meals a day, than vagrant migrants.
CuPB what has this long-awaited scientific allowance of following one´s own food instinct at least as to time have to do with monsanto?
You should be happy about
scientists, those Mullahs of the West, who normally make up rules and more rules and even more rules to encumber our lives while at the same time affirming they wanna make our lives easier and better, hah hah,
at least once admitting that spontaneous impulses (in this case: hunger)
are not to be suppressed in favor of rules
but to acknowledged as correctly guiding us!
If we realize that this scientific admittance is a real good starting point
for self-empowerment and removal of superstitious or dysfunctional everyday life rules
also in other respects,
for ourselves and for our kids,
we can make the very most out of it.
Removal of rules of this kind is one of the MOST EFFECTIVE measures to reduce everyday-life SUFFERING.
Just look at your kids folks.
Two little trifling examples from child-time life are named below. Think them over, grasp the principle, and you will find twenty or thirty more of them in an instant, for your kids alone.
And then look at your own grown-up people´s lives and you will find more than a hundred unnecessary ties and restrictions of the same kind that make you SUFFEr, that make humans SUFFER.
What is it what normal kids, of any age, feel or experience when having to put shoes on all day long even in warm summer – just because it is “the custom” this way, or for their parents´fear of them having some little wound on their feet after going barefoot? SUFFERING.
And what is it what normal smaller kids, at three to six years of age, feel or experience when they have to get their hair combed, if they got curly hair, or long hair, which naturally hurts more or less while combing?
Of course they will resist to the disagreeable procedure. And then they get reprimanded for their resistance.
Can you expect they will understand such a reprimand? No, they wont. They just SUFFER.
If you as a parent choose the most natural solutions about such things
i.e. for the two examples above,
let your kids go barefoot within your apartment whenever they want, and outside on playground during May to August whenever they want, accepting one or the other small wound on feet as something their bodies are naturally adapted to,
and simply cut the hair of little children short, to have less work with them and avoid pain and tears from combing
– you will be loved by your kids (most probably at least)
… but you will be called names by other grown-ups…
i.e. by such poor individuals that have been deprived of their natural instincts so much that they neurotically resent even seeing others follow their natural instincts…
and you should be PROUD of that,
for, you then suffer again, well, but at least for something WORTH suffering.
For FREEDOM.
Freedom is not a political thing primarily. It is a daily-life thing.
Freedom means that I may eat when I am hungry, and that I may eat what I want to if it is available, and not what others impose on me to eat;
that I may go barefoot when weather is warm instead of having those narrow, hot, sweaty things round my feet we call shoes;
that I may cut my hair short to avoid pain from combing, no matter if I am male or female, kid or grown-up;
that I am free to either follow some current clothing fashion, or ignore it and just wear functional clothing, no matter if I work in a Bank, in a Restaurant, in a Clinic, or on a building-site, in a clothes store (!), or wherever;
and
that I may sing in the street, or in the park, if I feel like singing,
and run thru the streets instead of walking, if I am in a hurry,
and weep if I feel hurt enough inside to need a good weep, not only alone in my bedroom but also outside…
no matter if my behavior seems “unusual” to one or the other fellow-humans seeing and hearing it.
“Unusual” does not mean “wrong” !!!!!
It is sad to see how expressionless many people in the streets look today (I mean, in Germany; but I think it is the same in other US and Middle European cities too). they walk their paths without even turning their heads to the left or right. No one talks audibly, no one sings, no one runs, no one gives an audible laugh – to cut it short, they behave nearly like robots, and this nearly drives me to tears!
this robotic behavior comes mainly from the delusion that it is wrong to seem unusual in behavior or appearance.
See, what dysfunctional rules and customs do to human beings – how they hinder them from LIVING?
THROW such rules AWAY, discard them, and help others discard them. This is Aufklärung, this is Progress. Today.
Older people still remember that left-handed children were made to write and work with the weaker right hand by force, just for supersitious reasons… We descarded this dysfunctional rule, and the result is that many people have easier lives, healthier minds, and perform much better in work and handwriting and generally in their daily lives.
There are MANY rules today that are worth discarding,
and most of them have been invented in modern times,
not in old times as that former superstition about left-handed writing.
Look around and allow yourself your true feelings and opinions about daily-life customs and you will easily see them.
