Identity and The Online Personality

In our days the Y and Z generations have debuted on the revolving stage of life. Y generation consists of the people born between 1976 and 1995. In slang, they are also referred to as the ”Youtube generation.” Z generation started in 1996 with Facebook and its members are still being born today, too. They are often called ”turn of the millennium generation”, and the most recent term is ”digital natives”.

They have grown up with the new technologies (computer, mobile phone, Internet), and they are hardly able to imagine their life without these. The services offered by the new technologies are part of their daily life, they are conveniently at home in the online world of the Internet. Belonging to virtual communities is often more important for them than building personal connections.
