KCPD Officer Indicted for the Shooting of Unarmed Man

For the first time in ten years a KCPD officer is being indicted for the non-fatal shooting of 34 yr old,Anthony Contreras,on June 24,2014. While “conducting a warrant check” at 2:30am, Officer Jacob Ramsey shot Mr. Contreras in the face while he was unarmed and running. The shooting occurred in the back yard of a nearby residence. The man they were looking for was not found.

It was announced,on Feb.20th that Jacob Ramsey will be indicted on charges of first degree assault and criminal action. While making the announcement,KCPD Chief Darryl Forté said he has the “utmost respect” for Officer Ramsey(yes,his exact words). There have been fifty-three fatal shootings by the KCPD in the last ten years. Not one of them were indicted.
