Judge Andrew C. Self ruled that Hoffman was justified in using deadly force and was entitled to immunity protection under the law, citing that force used was necessary to protect himself against death or other serious physical harm.
Authorities responded to the report of the home invasion at Hoffman’s residence in the early morning of Jan. 13. Hoffman told deputies that he had shot and killed an intruder, according to the Hopkins County Sheriff’s Office.
