Report: Ferguson Police Chief Thomas Jackson to Call It Quits

Thomas Jackson has held fast to his post as chief of the embattled Ferguson, Missouri police department despite a constant chorus of calls for his resignation following the Aug. 9, 2014 shooting of unarmed black teenager Michael Brown by Officer Darren Wilson. That’s apparently about to change.

According to a brief report posted Wednesday by the Guardian, Jackson was scheduled to announce that afternoon that he will soon be stepping down from his position:

The embattled police chief of Ferguson, Missouri, is to resign a week after his department was accused of racial bias in a scathing report by the US government, an aide to the St Louis county executive told the Guardian on Wednesday.

The news outlet cited “Alison Blood, the communications coordinator for executive Steve Stenger” as the source for its story.
