You thought our behavior patterns were weird…Wait until you read about these animal behavior patterns. You are about to get the shock of your life. Feel free to share this post on your social media channels. Here are ten bizarre animal behaviors no one can explain.
You heard us right. Swedish scientists recently discovered that the female of this fish specie will fake her orgasm to indicate that the mating is done and to get the male to ejaculate before the time is up. Noscientist has been able to figure out why she would this. Of the 117 spawning they observed, 69 were fake.
In 2006, scientists observing species behaviors in Antarctica noticed something mystifying – a fur seal mating with a king penguin. At the time, the believed that it was something incidental…something along the lines of playtime gone horribly wrong. That was until the Mammal Research Institute in South Africa saw something similar. Many scientists are guessing a lack of females on the beach as the cause of this bizarre breading habit. The male species are forced to focus their attention elsewhere.
In 2013, a colony of baboons in Netherlands was suddenly struck with a case of mass frenzy. Their regular behaviours – playing, fighting, greeting – stopped and they simply sat and did nothing. One group even sat up high in a tree and refused to come down. This was not the first documented incident. In 1994, 1997, and 2007, similar incidents happened in the same group of monkeys. Naturally, the baboons came out of their trance.
Scientists have been fascinated with the songs of the ocean’s blue whales for years. There is, however, something strange about them, something that no one has been able to figure out just yet. Every year, the Blue Whales’ voices have been getting deeper and deeper. The pitch has changed by such a large amount that scientists making the recording needed to calibrate their equipment every year to ensure they can even pick up the tunes. It’s happening worldwide and does not just affect one group.
There are some known animal species that change sexes when there are no opposite-gender members available. But in this particular case of chickens having a sex change, the process is somewhat different. Female chickens are able to undergo sex changes, but only take on the mannerisms and appearances of the male counterparts. They’re not actually functioning as males. No scientist has been able to figure out why.
