Congresswoman to introduce bill aimed at incentivizing Gun Owners to surrender assault weapons

Rep. Rosa DeLauro, D-Conn., is set to introduce a bill that will grant a tax credit to gun owners for handing their assault weapons over to the state.
The legislations reads:

The Support Assault Firearm Elimination and Education of Our Streets Act wants gun owners to contactually hand in their firearms to federal, state and local government.
“Assault weapons are not about hunting, or even self-defense,” DeLauro said according to the BizPac Review. “There is no reason on earth, other than to kill as many people as possible in as short a time as possible, that anyone needs a gun designed for a battlefield.”
The legislation explains that the gun owners who seeks the tax reduction incentive for disarmament must proved a “written acknowledgment of the surrender.”
It goes on to list a wide range of deemed assault weapons, which includes the popular AR15.
This will be Rep. DeLauro’s second time trying to pass the bill after its failure to gain any tracking in 2013.
This time around the bill has a total of 7 co-sponsors as it is set to make its way to the floor next week. The co-sponsors include Reps. Betty McCollum, D-Minn., Raul Grijalva D-Ariz., Elijah Cummings D-Md., Keith Ellison D-Minn., Eric Swalwell D-Calif., and David Cicilline D-R.I.
Semi-automatic pistols, shotguns and semi-automatic rifles are also labeled under assault weapons and qualify for the tax credit grant.
