Senate Conservatives Fund and Conservative Review agree: Arizona deserves principled leadership
In response to John McCain’s reelection campaign announcement (our coverage here) that he is seeking a sixth six-year term in the U.S. Senate, Ken Cuccinelli, President of the Senate Conservatives Fund (SCF), has the principled answer to bring sanity back to Arizona’s political scene.
The SCF’s fact-filled web page “Replace John McCain” opens with these truths:
Senator John McCain (R-AZ) officially announced [today] that he will seek a sixth term in the U.S. Senate. Thirty years of cutting deals with the Democrats is not enough for Senator McCain; he wants six more.
There are few Republicans who have betrayed our conservative principles more than John McCain. He wrote the McCain-Kennedy and “Gang of Eight” immigration bills that offered amnesty to millions of illegal aliens. He voted for the Wall Street bailout, to fund the implementation of Obamacare, for the $600 billion “fiscal cliff” tax hike, and to raise the debt limit 14 different times!
John McCain lost his way a long time ago and it’s time to replace him with a strong conservative leader who will support and defend the Constitution.
“If we’re going to save this great country,” writes Cuccinelli, “we need to elect true conservative leaders who will stand and fight for our principles. Being a U.S. Senator is not an entitlement and Republican voters in Arizona deserve a real choice.”
It’s no surprise the trustworthy and forthright Senate Conservatives Fund was named the Top Conservative PAC in America during the 2014 election cycle. SCF is funded by the grassroots. The average contribution amount to SCF is just $45 and individuals are prohibited from giving more than $5,000 per calendar year.
Conservative Review, another ethical conservative group, analyzed key votes and gave both Arizona senators an “F” rating. Due to staggered terms, only John McCain will appear on the 2016 ballot. Our votes for Arizona’s senator have never been more crucial. When national conservative groups weigh in against the Republican candidate, that fact becomes crystal clear.
Join the cause. It matters. Now more than ever.
