What Happened To Freedom Of Speech? Insulting Someone On Facebook Can Get You Imprisoned? Really!!! (Video)

A police spokesperson cautioned that Americans could be arrested for undesirable language or insulting someone on Facebook after a woman was accused with “harassment by computer” for posting a selfie of herself holding a gun. Enjoy!!!

The hot debate began when 26-year-old Kristin Holmes got into a Facebook disagreement with a woman who had wrongly recognized her for someone else.

Holmes published an image of herself aiming a gun at the camera together with the words, “I’ll post a few actual pics of me so you know the difference when you come find me.”

Holmes afterwards came to the realization that the picture was “a little bit intimidating” and took it down, but police later detained her and accused her with a class One misdemeanor. Holmes at this point faces up to one year in prison and/or a $2,500 fine.

“It wasn’t a threat. I thought it was a funny picture….What happened to freedom of speech?” Holmes told WWBT.

Nevertheless, just as mind boggling as Holmes being detained were responses made by Kevin Carroll, president of the Virginia Fraternal Order of Police.

“Free speech doesn’t say you have the right to insult somebody,” Carroll informed the NY Daily News.

Throughout a WWBT interview, Carroll also stated that making use of bad language online should also be considered a criminal offense.

“It’s actually against the law to say it in public. It’s a part of the disorderly conduct statute. If it’s against the law to say it in public why wouldn’t it be against the law to say it to someone through a computer?” said Carroll, who also told NBC News there is “no such thing as a petty crime”.

This is ın no way the first time Americans have been imprisoned for making comments on Facebook.

The most fancy example happened back in 2012 when former Iraq and Afghanistan veteran Brandon Raub was kidnapped from his home by law enforcement, FBI and Secret Service professionals and forcibly incarcerated in a psychiatric ward by government bodies in Virginia in reaction to Facebook posts which the FBI considered “terrorist” in character.

Raub’s content inquired the official story behind 9/11 and referenced crime within the U.S. government. Be AWARE and be PREPARED, FEAR is not an option. Be safe everyone…

  • This shows you how Nazi we’ve become. This f’head gov’t official says free speech doesn’t mean you have the right to offend people, when that is the ENTIRE PURPOSE of free speech is that you are allowed to be as offensive as you want.

  • The people of Virginia are getting what they voted for a bunch of uber left liberals who say one thing and give another, its there way or the highway. Do as i say not as i do.

  • Welcome to the ”new liberalised world” you NOW live in.

America is a tad behind many parts of the world, but she is catching up rapidly.

Freedom of speech is NOW a thing of the past.
