Editor’s Note: We’re are fighting a never ending, nebulous War on Terror. It’s to the point that most Americans do not even know which countries we are offensively (not defensively) bombing or why. Considering the drug wars in Afghanistan are really the US, since our government is over there using our soldiers to help grow and distribute the opium that would get people who possess it thrown in jail here in America, it’s not entirely too hard to guess where at least some of this money went…
Since 2002, Congress has set aside $104 billion specifically to rebuild Afghanistan. Of that, $66 billion went to the Pentagon.
Recently, the Special Inspector General for Afghanistan Reconstruction asked the military to account for all that spending. It couldn’t. According to a new report from SIGAR, the Pentagon only knows how it spent a third of its reconstruction budget.
That’s $45 billion dollars the military can’t track and the reason is … ridiculous. According to SIGAR, the Pentagon didn’t check a box on an electronic form when it filed the information in government databases.
It didn’t break any rules when it did this, and has since fixed the oversight that led to the underreporting, but it’s cold comfort for taxpayers who will probably never know how the U.S. military spent that money in Afghanistan.

I have to admit you made me laugh so here is one back at you
What is 45 billion compared to 2.3 TRILLION that disappeared and is missing at the pentagon that Rumsfeld spoke of the DAY BEFORE 9/11 to be accurate it was 9/10 that he spoke of it on national television.
Neanderthal appropriate name AKA obamabot.? Pentagon is infiltrated with corruption and muslim influences as well as the State Dept. and CIA. Maybe funding more islamic terrorists -errr Rebels.
In 1999 I found Fraud and Waste in the Pentagons Phone and Circuit Billing (Atlantic Bell) and recovered $550,000 for the US taxpayer!
But that money was wasted on a project to “Automate” Phone and data circuit Billing with a company called Oracle. They were to develop a software program to help the military. That contract cost $500,000 and it NEVER worked! They had a CHINESE programmer who knew very little of anything she was doing or what we wanted for the program which was to import billing records from Bell Atlantic and separate the billing accounts to our customers in the Pentagon for their departments to pat the bills.
But I have no Idea what happened to the 2.2 Trillion Rumsfeld stole or this 45 Billion that is missing now.
