(N.Morgan) Police are investigating a possible explosive found at MacDill AFB.
Due to the investigation South Dale Mabry Highway has been closed between Interbay Boulevard and MacDill Air Force Base after possible explosives were detected on a vehicle.
At about 3:45 p.m., a truck trying to enter the Dale Mabry gate at MacDIll underwent a routine inspection and tested positive for possible explosives, says Terry Montrose, a spokesman for the 6th Air Mobility Wing, the base host unit.
The scene is still active and being investigated, says Montrose, adding that all other gates at the base are open.
Montrose said traffic remains halted at the Dale Mabry gate.
