Citizens of Big Spring, Texas are confirming the “scary” vision of helicopters and tanks coming in advance of Jade Helm, a military exercise that has caused worries among the many that U.S. troops are planning for civil unrest in America.
All this comes after Wal-Mart has all of a sudden reported it is closing 5 stores from Florida to California for a six-month period credited to what the company states are “plumbing problems.” Nobody other than the ultra-gullible actually believes the Wal-Mart cover story, then again,
Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano announced the unusual alliance Monday on the department’s blog and in a promotional video posted to YouTube.
“Homeland security starts with hometown security, and each of us plays a critical role in keeping our country and communities safe,” she said. “This partnership will help millions of shoppers across the nation identify and report indicators of terrorism, crime and other threats to law enforcement authorities.”
Should the war on terror be fought in the aisles of Wal-Mart stores?
At least 200 Wal-Mart stores will roll out security announcements within 24 hours, Wal-Mart spokesman Dan Fogleman said. By month’s end, 588 stores in 27 states will be participating in the program. A short video featuring Napolitano will appear on TV screens at select checkout lanes, asking Wal-Mart shoppers to contact local law enforcement to report suspicious activity.
Jade Helm, a “realistic” military training exercise affecting nine states, which will include the Green Berets, Navy Seals, and the 82nd Airborne Division and is set to take place from July 15-Sepember 15, stoked conflict after Texas and Utah were labeled “hostile” territory in files associated to the exercise.
Residents in Big Spring shared with NewsWest 9 that military activity had actually been observed in the area.
“I saw a train carrying all sorts of military equipment heading into Big Spring,” said one resident, adding, “There were also about 14 helicopters flying over the [Big Spring McMahon-Wrinkle] Airport last night and a tank getting driven through that open field [near the airport]. It’s scary seeing that and not knowing what in the world is going on.”
Officials refused to acknowledge whether or not any troops had already arrived in the area or how many are scheduled to arrive and when residents can expect to see them.
Responding to Judicial Watch’s report earlier this week of ISIS activity along the Mexican border, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) supervisors called a “special” meeting at the U.S. Consulate in Ciudad Juárez.
A high-level intelligence source, who must remain anonymous for safety reasons, confirmed that the meeting was convened specifically to address a press strategy to deny Judicial Watch’s accurate reporting and identify who is providing information to JW. FBI supervisory personnel met with Mexican Army officers and Mexican Federal Police officials, according to JW’s intelligence source. The FBI liaison officers regularly assigned to Mexico were not present at the meeting and conspicuously absent were representatives from the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). It’s not clear why DHS did not participate.
Publicly, U.S. and Mexico have denied that Islamic terrorists are operating in the southern border region, but the rapid deployment of FBI brass in the aftermath of JW’s report seems to indicate otherwise. A Mexican Army field grade officer and a Mexican Federal Police Inspector were among the sources that confirmed to JW that ISIS is operating a camp just a few miles from El Paso, Texas. The base is around eight miles from the U.S. border in an area known as “Anapra” situated just west of Ciudad Juárez in the Mexican state of Chihuahua.
The Army Times noted:
U.S. Army Special Operations Command says that, contrary to reports circulating on conspiracy websites, it has no plans to invade Texas.
Some fringe websites have paraded a PowerPoint presentation, reportedly from USASOC, as evidence of Jade Helm 15, a series of military exercises across California, Nevada, Arizona, New Mexico, Utah, Colorado and Texas. They say it will train the U.S. military to suppress American citizens rebelling in a coming military coup or civil war.
What’s seriously raising eyebrows across the internet is the mathematical improbability that 5 large Wal-Mart stores would all encounter devastating plumbing problems at precisely the same day, all needing precisely the same duration of closures: 6 months.
The very concept that a plumbing problem could be so devastating that it would require shuttering an whole store for six months positions right up there with some of the most unbelievably implausible cover-up answers I have heard over the years such as “steel-reinforced concrete buildings all of a sudden fall in perfect demolition design when they experience a few small office fires.”
Various other related exercises around the country have been featured, with some linking the drills to Jade Helm.
Troubling online video out of Fort Lauderdale, Florida last month revealed military and law enforcement rehearsing the internment of citizens in the course of martial-law style training.
A National Guard exercise based around coping with civil unrest after a dirty bomb attack in Richmond, California also highlighted role players acting as angry Americans yelling ‘right-wing’ rhetoric.
Meanwhile, Jade Helm operations planner Thomas Meade revealed that participants in Jade Helm, both troops and locals, would be wearing arm bands that identify them as being part of the exercise. During the drill, soldiers will operate ”undetected amongst civilian populations,” to see if they can infiltrate without being noticed. Residents will be encouraged to report “suspicious activity” during the exercise.
On the other hand, Jade Helm operations coordinator Thomas Meade unveiled that individuals in Jade Helm, both troops and locals, would be donning arm bands that recognize them as being part of the exercise. During the drill, soldiers will operate ”undetected amongst civilian populations,” to see if they can infiltrate without being discovered. Residents will be urged to report “suspicious activity” in the course of the training.
Big Spring resident Jacob Martin lamented that city officials had done a “poor job” of trying to keep locals well informed about the drill, but made welcome the appearance of the military, thinking that it would improve the current economic climate.
In a associated report, Lt. Col. Robert Maginnis (USA-Ret.), a senior man for national security at the Family Research Council, dismissed that the training was anything out of the norm.
“They certainly don’t conduct combat operations against any element inside [the country] unless there is martial law declared,” said Maginnis.
