We have had no Spring in Andalusia this year, and that might be a bold statement since I haven’t lived here in the Spring before.
But it is true – no sun = no Spring.
Only the cold winds howling down from the mighty Sierra Nevada.
Going round in town, the shopkeepers speak of it.
Going for a taco, the waiters speak of it.
Going home in a taxi, the driver speaks of it.
I was flying down from Scandinavia two weeks ago. I like to sit by the window and let my mind go adrift, figuring out where I am in the skies. The part of the trip where the plane goes over the Pyrenees, is stunning.
Being a little south of them I noticed below the plane these perfectly square shaped trails of chemicals. Four airplanes in all. Two of them going toward the east and another two going south, producing these chessboard patterns of whatever toxins they are made of.
That is very much too north of here, but Spain has been covered in clouds for some months now, with occasional sunlight breaking through further north. Usually a couple of hours and the cold and wind set in again.
Clouds could signal rain. Adalusia is in a drought too, which is taking its toll on the Avocado, Olive Oil and Almonds. So rain is much needed, and including the wine, the same key foods are involved as in California. Hmmm. And another: Hmmm.
