Whenever we report on the rise of anti-Semitism around the world, we invariably receive a slew of anti-Semitic email detailing how Jews are somehow at fault for all of the world’s evils. But none of these Jew-haters ever respond to the issue of anti-Semitism, likely because they themselves are anti-Semitic.
At about 2:30pm on Friday afternoon, two young Jews, both in their 20’s, were attacked by a gang of some 40 anti-Semites! The attackers were known to be associated with the anti-Israel groups Gaza Firm and the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign. The police are now investigating the incident and have even warned local Jewish businesses to be careful as the possibility for more violence is evident.
The concern for Jewish safety has become such an important issue that local communities have even taken to organizing volunteers to protect their businesses and keep watch over their streets… which seems like a job the police should be doing.
American Jewish newspaper The Algemeiner reminds readers about the growing trend of anti-Semitism in Europe.
The attack marks the latest in a growing antisemitic trend in France, and Europe as a whole. Earlier this year, an Islamist gunman seized a Kosher supermarket in Paris and killed four Jewish hostages. Just a few weeks later, a security guard was killed in Copenhagen when a lone gunman opened fire in front of the city’s Great Synagogue.
In 2006, a French Jew was kidnapped from his cell phone store on the same Boulevard Voltaire. He was tortured and ultimately killed.
Anti-Semitism is real and it is ugly. The memory of WW II and the Nazi Internment camps that saw some 6 Million Jews slaughtered has grown distant, so distant that the people of Europe have begun to forget their promise of “Never Again.” Racism is evil in all its forms. Stand with us against the scourge of anti-Semitism.
