Boy Scouts victims of homosexual agenda

(Before It's News)

Bizarro world of gay activism incrementally pushes agenda, sets standards

Homosexuality, which until 1973 was defined as deviant behavior by the American Psychiatric Association, has —- 42 years later —- become “gay” and trendy. Celebrities stumble over themselves to be the latest to declare their inclinations for members of the same sex. We are treated to countless characters in movies, on stage, coming into our homes via comedy programming and even the cartoons children watch.  Who doesn’t know that 65-year-old Bruce Jenner, a three times married father of six and stepfather of four is “transitioning into womanhood?” We are told this is worthy of celebration.

How do the Boy Scouts of America fit into this scenario? Start with their oath:

“On my honor, I will do my best: To do my duty to God and my country, and to obey the Scout Law. To help other people at all times. To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake, and morally straight.”

The Scout Law states: A Scout is trustworthy, loyal, helpful, friendly, courteous, kind, obedient, cheerful, thrifty, brave, clean, and reverent.

Founded in 1909, scouting taught boys various survival skills, patriotism and morality. They earned merit badges for completing projects. Many city kids went camping for the first time in their lives. Public schools were happy to sponsor troops. In 1924, President Calvin Coolidge commended the three fundamentals of scouting: reverence for nature, for the law and for God.

Fast forward: Since the 1990’s, Scouting has been at the center of a firestorm. Homosexual activists and their surrogates have instituted several high-profile lawsuits, citing the BSA’s core belief that homosexuals cannot serve as scout leaders since that violates the traditional moral values defined in the Scout Oath and Law.

As an example, the ACLU of San Diego claimed that the organization’s practice was discriminatory and should make them ineligible for the use of public funds or public lands.

In 2005, the BSA removed the charters of thousands of scouting units from public schools after the ACLU threatened to sue taxpayer-funded institutions that charter the troops.

The city of Philadelphia, citing the Scout’s “anti-gay policies” pressured the Cradle of Liberty Council Boy Scouts of America to vacate the building the BSA built on city property in the simpler times of 1928 and has used rent-free for decades. In 2013, the city bought the building from the Scouts. At the time, more than 17,000 boys were served by the Council in Philadelphia and Montgomery and Delaware Counties.

Gay rights activists in dozens of cities persuaded United Way to stop supporting the Scouts, though UW distributed nearly $2 million to Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion provider, and no voices were raised in protest.

Now we learn that Robert Gates, former Secretary of Defense and President of Boy Scouts of America, has called for an end to the group’s ban on homosexual troop leaders. Gates, a former Eagle Scout (the highest scouting rank), declares, “We cannot ignore the social, political and judicial changes taking place in our country. We must deal with the world as it is, not as we might wish it to be. The status quo….cannot be maintained.”

A righteous organization providing guidance to countless boys, many from fatherless homes, becomes the villain in this topsy-turvy world of sexual politics.

The kids lose.
