One of the seven wonders of the ancient world is to be completely rebuilt near to its original location.
Constructed around 280 BC by the Ptolemaic Kingdom, the impressive structure, which towered an estimated 450ft above the Alexandria coastline, was a marvel of its time and remained the tallest man-made structure in the world for several centuries.
During the daytime the lighthouse used mirrors to help guide ships in to port while a fire played the same role at night. Sadly though the building suffered significant damage during a series of earthquakes and was finally destroyed by one in the 14th century.
This is pretty cool. Lighthouses are awesome and this is probably the most famous of all of them. Building a replica would be a great feat for Egypt. I bet there would also be very tight security. Good luck Egypt..
