Israeli Media: Obama to Support Palestinian Bid for Statehood at the UN

The formation of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s new government coalition, comprised of far-right cabinet members, may have ruffled the feathers of the White House. So much so that sources say President Obama may push for UN Security Council recognition of Palestine.

While campaigning for reelection, Netanyahu made multiple appeals to Israel’s right-wing, perhaps none more effective than his pledge to prevent the creation of a Palestinian state.

“Anyone looking to establish a Palestinian state today is yielding to radical Islam,” Netanyahu told Israel’s daily Maariv in March. “This reality has been created here in recent years. To ignore that [by the Left] is burying your head in the sand.” …. http://sputniknews.com
