hoverboard

It seems like every year the media can’t help but latch on to at least one story about some plucky inventor and his new hoverboard. Usually it’s either a hoax, or there’s a catch. Last year, it was that Kickstarter project that was probably all over your Facebook feed. Of course, it had little real world practicality since it would only work on magnetic surfaces, making it a very niche market. That didn’t stop over three thousand people from giving a half a million dollars to the project though.

Fortunately, there’s still a few inventors our there who are trying to make a real hoverboard that can go anywhere, and it looks like they’re making progress. Yesterday, Guinness World Records posted a video that showed a Canadian man testing his homemade hoverboard over a lake, and apparently he broke the previous distance record by a wide margin.
