Hundreds of ID badges that let airport workers roam the nation’s busiest hub have been stolen or lost in the last two years, an NBC News investigation has found.

‘Hoax’ threat at Logan among 4 flights investigated today

A “hoax” threat prompted a probe of a Boston-bound flight from Paris at Logan International Airport today, as authorities investigated three other threats against commercial airliners around the country.

Massport spokesman Matthew Brelis said law enforcement officials determined the threat wasn’t credible, and that all the passengers from a Delta flight from Paris had landed and reached the gate safely.

“It was a hoax,” he said.

Brelis didn’t have other details on the nature of the threat or how it was made.

Delta officials did not immediately return a phone call seeking comment.

The threat came as a series of anonymous phone calls prompted searches of at least two planes at Kennedy Airport and nearly interrupted a third flight from England, authorities said.

Authorities said the threats didn’t appear to be credible and the searches were done as a precaution.

In one instance this morning, U.S. military jets escorted an Air France flight into New York City after someone claimed a chemical weapon was aboard the aircraft, the FBI said.

“Out of an abundance of caution, Air France flight number 22 was escorted to John F. Kennedy airport by U.S. Air Force fighter jets following a phone threat,” the FBI said in a statement. “There were no incidents or hazards reported on board the flight by either the passengers or its crew. The plane has been cleared.”
