There is a long list of worldwide famous personalities who couldn’t live longer than age 27 and such personalities are included in a list called “27 Club”. Originally, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin, Jimi Hendrix and Brian Jones were the only members of 27 Club who lost their lives from 1969 to 1971. Later on the list extended to many notable personalities. Below is a top ten list about the top ten famous, beloved people who died at age 27.
American singer, guitarist, and songwriter died in 1994 from an apparent suicide by gunshot in his home in Seattle. His body was discovered by an electrician who had arrived to install a security system. Apart from a bit of blood coming out of Cobain’s ear, the electrician saw no visible signs of trauma and initially believed that Cobain was asleep until he saw the shotgun pointing to his chin. A suicide note stated, “I haven’t felt the excitement of listening to as well as creating music, along with really writing … for too many years now”. He left a 2 year old daughter behind, Frances Bean Cobain.
Amy Winehouse, the British singer who was most famous for her stunning voice and bee-hived hair, became a tabloid fixture as her problems with drugs and alcohol spiraled out of control. She was found dead in 2011 in her apartment in London and is the most recent inductee in the 27 club. The cause of death was drug intoxication.

Jim Morrison is another famous name in American history who is an inductee in the 27 club. He earned fame being an outstanding poet, film director, writer, songwriter and singer. He was born on December 8, 1943 and died at 27 on July 3, 1971 in his apartment in Paris, France. He was found dead in the bathtub. No autopsy was allowed to perform as per French law and therefore his death is yet a controversial topic for fans who loved his charisma and music. He was a known drug addict so people suspect an overdose.
Robert Leroy Johnson was among great musicians and blues singer in United States especially during 1930s but he died at age 27 on August 16, 1938. People loved his combination of songwriting, guitar skills and singing talent from 1936 to 1937. Someone killed this great artist near Greenwood, Mississippi, but authorities couldn’t find the actual reason behind this murder. But some reports claimed his death reason was poisoning.
Janis Lyn Joplin was an American singer-songwriter who first rose to fame in the late 1960s as the lead singer of the psychedelic acid-rock band Big Brother and the Holding Company. Her first ever large scale public performance was at the Monterey Pop Festival; this led her to becoming very popular and one of the major attractions at the Woodstock festival and the Festival Express train tour. She died on October 4, 1970. Medical reports claimed that Joplin lost her life as a result of a heavy dose of heroin she took that night. She was found in a motel room in Los Angeles. Her body was also under heavy alcohol effects, reports said. She couldn’t find enough time to produce her album of her band i.e. “Pearl” when she died.
