Do you love your job? Do you love the people you work with? The suicide rates in these professions is high. If you are in one of these professions, seeks support before trying to end your life. Here is a list of the top ten professions with the highest suicide rates.

 

10. Urban Planners

As an Urban Planner, your job is to make the life of neighbourhoods and communities better and more optimal for living. Managing the politics and having an optimal outlook can be a challenge for some people in the profession. Those who go into the career are all in, meaning that it’s their life. When the plans don’t go as planned, it can be very hard to cope with it. All the long hours, the union and endless competition for jobs is a lot of weight on your shoulder. The only way out is – suicide.

 

9. Chiropractor

Being a chiropractor is a jugging act in many respects. Very often you are running your own business with limited resources (staff) and very few people necessarily book an appointment in advance. Since the practice is not always covered by insurance, at least not the full extent, it’s difficult to be licensed and the lawsuits and paperwork is endless. It’s not surprising that a large number of them commit suicide.

 

8. Financial Planners

In the olden days, financial planners would commit suicide by jumping off their buildings or throwing themselves onto the tracks – to be hit by the train. The salary of a financial planner is dependent on how they manage the finances of other people (their customers). When the economy takes a turn for the worse, suicide rates in this industry are sky rocketing especially for those with risky investments. Even when the economy is performing, there is still a great deal of pressure and stress that many planners cannot handle.

 

7. Marine Engineers

Engineers in general have a lot of pressure on their backs. Take a look at the suicide rates at MIT, it’s the highest than any other schools in the U.S., due to the stress students put on themselves. It doesn’t get any easier after school is over and they find a job. There are a lot of variables to consider and a million of things that can go wrong from faulty products to bad resources to poor designs. The hours are also very long and if this is your project, chances are your life is at stake. For some marine engineers it becomes too much and see their projects as failures and commit suicide as a result.

 

6. Pharmacists

Pharmacists are assigned the task of filling prescriptions for antibiotics, anti-depressants and other medication patient need. They face stress all day long. It’s very easy to become depressed and combinethat with easy access to whatever medication you want, it’s a recipe for disaster. Many pharmacists that are suicidal forego the require steps and help themselves to the inventory in stalk, leading to terrible addictions that often also lead to suicidal thoughts.
