According to the report, Fruita resident Joshua Chasteen stuffed a shotgun down his pants and made his way across town to an acquaintance's house, Paul Delancey. Witnesses said Chasteen was going to confront Delancey with the intention of killing him.
When Chasteen arrived at the W. Pabor Way residence, he approached Delancey and began pulling his shotgun out of his pants. Delancey had a concealed carry permit, and when he said he saw Chasteen on his porch pointing his gun at him and reaching for the trigger, Delancey fired first.
