When Benjamin Farias was pulled over by the NYPD he thought it was suspicious, so he decided to turn his cell phone on and start recording. He just couldn’t fathom any good reason for his sudden arrest. It turns out, the cops couldn’t think of a good reason either. Unfortunately, that didn’t stop them from putting Farias through the wringer.
As you can see in the video, Farias tries his best to find a good explanation for his detention, but to no avail. After being removed from the car, one of the officers starts searching (without any form of consent of course), and turns the camera away. Fortunately, the audio can still be heard. At the end of the video you can hear one of the officers say “I don’t even know why we pulled him over.” His partner replies “Just put cocaine test.”
They didn’t even have a sound reason for detaining this man, and in the course of his arrest, they fractured his wrist. There’s no telling how much worse this could have been for Farias if he wasn’t filming the incident. Farias plans to sue the police department for his treatment. Perhaps he should get in line behind the thousands of other New York residents who are trying to sue the NYPD on a regular basis.
