According to several sources the rapper known as, “The Game” was in a game of basketball in late March. At one point the game became physical and the rapper punched one of the other players in the face – see video above. Fights happen on basketball courts right? So what’s the problem? The person punched was an off duty police officer. Which is why Jayceon Terrell Taylor, “The Game’s” legal name, surrendered to police on Monday according to CBS Los Angeles:
A rapper known by “The Game” has been arrested in connection with a violent incident involving an off-duty police officer at a pickup basketball game in March.
Los Angeles police Officer Mike Lopez says 35-year-old Jayceon Terrell Taylor surrendered at the department’s Hollywood Division at noon Monday.
Taylor allegedly threw a punch at the officer, and the incident was caught on video and posted online.
Lopez says Taylor was booked on suspicion of making criminal threats. He posted $50,000 bail about an hour later.
Initiation of force is most certainly wrong and the Game should know better. That being said, his punishment shouldn’t be more severe simply because the person he punched was a cop. Which seems to be the tone that’s being set and I suspect a plea deal is in the works but I wouldn’t bank on it entirely. The Game was part of what’s been described as an intense standoff with LAPD at the end of April, see video below, so he isn’t scared of police interaction. He also shared the picture above to his instagram after posting bond with some light humor about waiting for his “uber ride.” So he seems to be in good spirits to fight this. I’ll keep you updated as this court case unfolds or if the Game has any other moves in the future.
