It’s a getup reminiscent of Wyatt Earp and his famed lawmen that’s transforming the look – and budget – of one Arkansas sheriff’s department.

The new uniform consists of a white oxford shirt, or black for the night shift, and Levis or Wrangler blue jeans or khakis.

“I want to keep a uniform and professional look while getting the biggest bang for our taxpayer dollars!” said Logan County Sheriff Boyd Hicks.

The updated uniforms, which will be integrated over the next several weeks, will cost less than $60, while the current uniforms cost around $150.

An added benefit is that the deputies will appear less military-like.
