There really are not many reasons a coward cop can create to rationalize pulling a gun on a group of clearly unarmed teenagers at a pool party. For starters, practically everyone at the party was in swimming suits. There certainly is not any way to pull the common “I thought they were going for a gun” justification.
But on Saturday, a video was uploaded on Youtube that exhibits an officer in Texas doing just that: pulling a gun on a group of obviously unarmed teenagers.
Several officers were screaming and arresting young adults at the community pool.
One of them ended up being shut down during a potential fight where the officer tried to grab a young girl by the neck and shove her head in the direction of the ground. The officer pulled his gun – while being filmed – at the two youths who were attempting to stop police brutality.
An official police statement linked to this occurrence was posted to Facebook. In that report, the McKinney, Texas police spelled out that they responded to a “disturbance call” on Friday evening. The cops say the teenagers “do not live in the area or have permission to be there” at the pool.
The police assert that a fight broke out at the Craig Ranch North Community Pool.
“When the cops showed up everyone ran, including the people who didn’t do anything,” the video uploader revealed.
“So the cops just started putting everyone on the ground and in handcuffs for no reason. This kind of force is uncalled for especially on children and innocent bystanders.”
10 units in all were called to the scene.
Once the McKinney Police found out about the video they placed 1 of the responding officers on administrative leave pending the results of this investigation. The department confessed that the actions of the officer “raised concerns.”
Buzzfeed News talked to Brandon Brooks today, the video uploader. He stated “I think a bunch of white parents were angry that a bunch of black kids who don’t live in the neighborhood were in the pool. Everyone who was getting put on the ground was black, Mexican, Arabic,” he stated. “[The cop] didn’t even look at me. It was kind of like I was invisible.”
Brooks, it has to be taken into account, is Caucasian himself.
Enjoy the video of the occurrence below and let me know if you concur with Brooks, or if you believe the officers were in the right.
Nice twist on the story. I have already read views (opposed to yours) on how the cops were in the right & others were posting on facebook how the kids were in the wrong. Another “racist cop” story that we will probably never know the truth on.
Isn’t it funny how, when the kids sat down & didn’t move, they weren’t shot!
