Jeb! starts campaigning “beyond the base”
If Jeb!, who obviously holds conservatives in contempt, is the 2016 Republican presidential nominee, our choices will be nonexistent.
Discussing his recent meeting with Mitt Romney in this Fox News outtake of an interview scheduled to air Tuesday, Jeb Bush tells Bret Baier:
“Yes, I got a lot of good advice from the last candidate who I wish was president right now — the last Republican candidate — and he validated a belief that I have which is at some point we have to start campaigning in a way that’s beyond the base.”
“Beyond the base?” That feels a whole lot like a finger in the collective eye of conservatives.
Then Jeb! further clarified his scheme:
“I think you have to be respectful of conservatives and you have to campaign hard, convince them that you’re the right guy to unite the party, but there also always ought to be an eye on the ball, of the next group of people who actually decide who the president is going to be.”
And who might that “next group” be? Clearly it’s not us.
In Sept. 2013, Seeing Red AZ noted Jeb’s lack of political acumen as he prepared to present Hillary Clinton with the 2013 Liberty Medal in “recognition of her lifelong career in public service.” The insulting ceremony was scheduled one day short of the one year anniversary of the Benghazi terrorist attack that took place September 11, 2012. As Secretary of State, Clinton engaged in a lengthy campaign of lies and despicable obfuscation, attempting to conceal the truth of the massacre that left 4 Americans dead, including U.S. Ambassador Christopher Stevens.
